Dear clients, colleagues and friends
After 25 years of owning and running Language Professionals Limited and servicing the need of New Zealand and overseas clients, I have now taken up a full-time position as Interpreter-Translator with the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) in Noumea, New Caledonia (http://www.spc.int).
This is a very positive career move for me as SPC is a highly respected regional organisation which serves the Pacific Island Countries and Territories to help promote their sustainable development. I am naturally very proud to have been accepted and to join a team of seasoned professionals.
New Zealand, my second home, has been good to me and the decision to apply for this position and to accept it once it was offered to me, was a very difficult one to take, especially as it involved deep changes in the life of my family. However, after living over 28 years in NZ, I felt a strong need to live again in the French-speaking world. I also wanted to concentrate on my working languages and improve my professional skills, which my new position will allow me to do.
But Language Professionals Limited is still alive. Over the years, the company has gained a solid reputation on the New Zealand and overseas markets thanks to an uncompromising stand on quality and reliability. We have always sourced the best teams available, even though this almost always implied recruiting our teams overseas due to the lack of confirmed Conference Interpreters in New Zealand.
We will keep up the good work and my good friend and colleague Bertold Schmitt has agreed to look after the Conference business of Language Professionals Limited. Bertold is a member of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC) (http://www.aiic.net) and a founding member of the Calliope Interpreters worldwide network of Consultant Interpreters (http://www.calliope-interpreters.org).
Bertold is a very experienced Consultant Interpreter and his involvement means that Language Professionals Limited’s clients, both in New Zealand and in the Pacific, will continue to have access to top quality professional interpretation and translation services.
I wish to take this opportunity to thank the many clients who have trusted us over the years and to assure them, as well as any person or organisation needing to call on Conference Interpretation and Translation services, of my and Bertold’s personal commitment to continuing to offer the highest standard of service to the conference community.
